Nine faculty members in the George R. Brown School of Engineering are ranked among the world’s highly cited researchers, including five in the materials science category.
The 2021 Highly Cited Researchers list is a global accounting of scientists who produced the last decade’s most influential papers, compiled by the Web of Science group, a Clarivate Analytics company.
The list recognizes researchers “who produced multiple papers ranking in the top 1% by citations for their field and year of publication, demonstrating significant research influence among their peers,” according to Web of Science. It selected more than 6,600 researchers from 70 countries for their performance in 21 fields and for cross-field influence in scholarly publications.
The Rice researchers recognized for their influence and productivity are:
Pulickel M. Ajayan, the Benjamin M. and Mary Greenwood Anderson Professor in Engineering, professor and chair of materials science and nanoengineering (MSNE), professor of chemistry
Pedro J.J. Alvarez, the George R. Brown Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering
Naomi Halas, the Stanley C. Moore Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), of biomedical engineering, chemistry, and of physics and astronomy
Jun Lou, professor and assistant department chair of MSNE
Aditya D. Mohite, associate professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering (ChBE)
Peter Nordlander, the Wiess Chair and Professor of Physics and Astronomy, professor of ECE and of MSNE
James M. Tour, the T. T. and W. F. Chao Professor of Chemistry, and professor of MSNE and computer science
Haotian Wang, the William Marsh Rice Trustee Chair and assistant professor of ChBE
Robert Vajtai, research professor of MSNE
Mohite was cited in the cross-field category, Wang in chemistry, and Alvarez in environment and ecology.
